Horse Breeds

This site starts out as the home of the 5 million words over 50,000 entries of Thoroughbred history compiled by Richard Ulbrich. The author of three major works, he summarized his work in his Ulbrich's Peerage. Readily described as an essential source of information on the Thoroughbred, it is important that it be retained and accessible in perpetuity. This project is an attempt to make that possible.

Although it starts with the Thoroughbred, the plan is to make this platform available to all historians of all breeds of horses, so that there is a single access point for the history of all horse breeds.

The technology behind the site is Mediawiki; the very robust software package behind Wikipedia.

Given that the project will inevitably be a collaborative effort by dozen of horse historians (and hopefully organizations), it is planned that it will in due course be established as a non-profit organization. All donations for access will be used to support and expand the site, as well as support the horse industry.

Join us

I am reaching out to all people interested in preserving and or compiling a history of all breeds of horses, so if that is you, please send me an email and I'll provide you access to the site.

If you are interested in supporting the site to make the vision a possibility, please send me an email and we'll work out how that can be put into place.

If you just want to have access to the site, the cost is US$19 per year. Email me for details.

I look forward to hearing from you.
